What Can Help You be BOTH a Successful Business Owner and Mom?

Women are still expected to be the primary care givers in most families. If that’s you, a business plan will help you make sure that you will have enough time to do both. If that’s not you, great. A business plan will still help your partner understand the time he or she would have to be willing to commit, so you can pursue the business, or how much money you will need to budget for child care.

Fora Financial shares some great tips outside of a detailed business plan that we thought were very helpful. You can read the full article athttps://www.forafinancial.com/blog/small-business” data-wplink-url-error=”true”> Fora.

Tips for Moms in Business:

    1. Write it All Down – The more organized you can be in both your personal and professional life the better, not only from a success standpoint but from a personal well being one as well.  Creating a business plan is a great first step. Your family and your business get the best you and maximize the quality time spent on each.
    2. Separate Your Roles– Balance is key. Separate time for business and time for family. This might not always be realistic, but try as best as possible not to mix the two. Check in if you want.  Just, don’t get sidetracked. A useful tip Fora Financial gives is to take 20 min to check in, but, then, set it aside. Emergencies are obviously different – just remember that everything urgent is an emergency. When at work, take time to make a call to home and vice versa.
    3. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others- All businesses are unique. All families are unique. Therefore, having a detailed business plan is vital. It is a ‘living’ document that must be revisited throughout the year. A life plan is similar for your family. Take time to do the research and prepare, seeking out experts to help you fill in the gaps and pointed in the right direction.
    4. Take a Break– Everyone needs to take a break, no matter what superpowers you may possess. Allowing yourself to refresh and recharge can only benefit you, your business, and your family.

A strong business plan lets you run your business and not the other way around.

Whatever you decide to do. Choose a business you love. But, also develop a strong business plan. Why?

    • You are twice as likely to get a loan with a strong business plan.
    • Because a strong business plan shows your serious. Take every opportunity to show how much you know about your business
    • Business plans make you prioritize. Everything can’t be a priority
    • Instead of comparing yourself to others, compare your performance vs. your business plan. If you are progressing against the business plan, then you are doing what needs to be done.
    • Having a strong business plan demonstrates a clear vision and definition of success.
    • Nothings sets a stronger professional tone than a strong business plan

Finally, overcoming obstacles is never easy.  Yet, it’s not impossible.  Therefore, preparation is the best offense.  So, having a strong business plan will help.  If you are interested, see how ProStrategix can help.
